At Inside Adsense they have an article on how a website increased earnings by optimizing the adsense layout.
I whole heartedly agree that where you place Adsense ads can make a difference. I also agree that the color of the Adsense ads makes a difference. I do have doubts about the claims in the article at Inside Adsense. I do not think the results given are just because the adsense layout.
You can read the rest of the article your self. I have just a short quote here.
Inside AdSense: All the elements for a successful optimisation In the week following the optimisation, WebElements saw revenue increase by 500%. They then made other small placement changes to the site, which resulted in a spike doubling the revenue yet again — as a result, the site was earning over 1000% its original earnings for some of the year.
The article states increase in adsense revenue.
I think it would be a little bit better to have given us the change in CTR or click throughs. It is easy to say your revenue changed, but that could have been caused by many different things. In fact, I am beginning to think that following some of the recommendations given will actually decrease the amount you get on some clicks. The more Adsense ads you have, the more likely there will be Adsense ads that have lower bids on them showing. I admit I am not a complete expert, but this is what I am thinking is happening.
My best guess it that an increase in traffic is the real reason for the website’s increase in revenue.
It could also be an improvement in the quality of the traffic at the website. I wish we were given an example of the CTR before and after the changes.
One great thing about Google is that they do suggest testing things to see what works best.
This is some of the best advice they give. Doing some type of A/B test is always the best way to see what works. Yes, test your site and see what works best. Make sure you can measure the result, so you can keep doing what works best.
