Remember To Test Before Going "Live"

Windows Live Writer has an update

On a whim, I decided to see if there was an update for Windows Live Writer

I was surprised to learn that an update just came out a couple days ago. I downloaded the update right away.

My mistake was not testing first.

Not only did I not test, but I made a fairly long post. I did not even really check out if there were many differences.

I just started writing.

All went well. There are a few differences in the interface. The categories are now at the bottom of the screen instead of the sidebar. Otherwise, it seems to work about the same. It has more of a Vista look to it now.

My problem came when I tried to publish the post.

I have Writer set to open the blog after publishing. My post was not there! I clicked publish again – nothing.

Checking my blog, I can find the post.

It just does not seem to be published. As far as I can figure, I seem to have messed up the publish date. I tried resetting it but it still is not showing up. I now have it set to publish later Saturday to see if that works.

So, you will have to check back later to see what I wrote.

If it does not show, I will copy it, rename it, delete the original, and repost it.

Next time – a short test post will be the first thing I do.

Not a bad idea after any software update.
